Client Testimonials

I would like to say how delighted we are with the dining chairs and the coffee table that we did buy. They give us pleasure every single day and were worth every penny. The coffee table has transformed the room that it sits in and is a really beautiful feature.
We were also fortunate to be treated to a set of your coasters (with the lakes on) as a Christmas present and they look really lovely sitting on the table as well as being practical.

We first discovered Peter Hall & Son some twenty-five years ago whilst on a holiday in The Lake District. At that time we purchased a Buttermere Chair which involved a personal fitting carried out by Peter Hall - an unusual but very pleasant experience with an attention to detail which continues in the company to this day.
Over the years we have purchased several items from the showroom, had furniture restored and commissioned works.
One of these commissions was a corner cupboard in veneered burr walnut with marquetry.
We wanted the design of this piece to reflect the wildlife in our garden. The design incorporates butterflies, ladybirds, newts, plants and other animals. The cupboard is entwined with honeysuckle. The design process was a wonderful experience with the input from the design team being exceptional and exceeding our expectations.
The workmanship on the cabinet is fantastic and so much so that it was awarded The Worshipful Company of Furniture Makers Craft Guild Mark Award in 2004. An award which recognises the high standard of workmanship carried by Peter Hall & Son.
The cabinet has been displayed at the London showrooms of Bonhams.
A further commission was for a Concave Fronted Kneehole Desk in walnut wood - again another piece of craftsmanship.
Not only have we commissioned other furniture pieces but have had restoration work carried out on antique furniture and furniture reupholstered- again all to a high standard.

Some of the restored pieces are family heirlooms and have a sentimental attachment and the restoration has been carried sympathetically.
It has always been a pleasure to visit the showroom and workshop, where one is warmly welcomed, to discuss ongoing projects or to purchase items including smaller pieces which make excellent gifts.
For those of you who have been on The National Trust’s steam yacht Gondola on Lake Coniston and have seen how well this has been restored probably don’t know that a large part of the restoration work was carried out by Peter Hall & Son. The company has over the years done considerable work for The National Trust meeting their extremely high standards.
Should you visit Peter Hall & Son and purchase or commission items If our experience is anything to go by you will not be disappointed.

I was fortunate enough to commission a set of study furniture from Peter Hall & Son. We were made to feel central to the process being involved in the design, drawing on what we already knew of their work and sharing thoughts and ideas. Being able to see our pieces progressing through the workshop was fascinating and at the end, we own a beautiful suite of furniture which is used and admired every day.

I commissioned a bespoke Rothay chair last year. I very much valued the sympathetic and professional guidance from Will Hall. The result was an outstanding piece which will undoubtedly become a treasured family heirloom. At the same time, it is a beautifully designed and functional piece of furniture of supreme quality. In short a 'piece de resistance'!
Thank you for creating it for me.

When we were looking for a dining/kitchen table and chairs to go in our new kitchen/ living/ dining room we went to Peter Hall and sons as we already had the experience of their wonderful workmanship when we had a coffee table made for our holiday home in Cumbria. We wanted a lovely table but one that could be used daily in the heart of our home, for kitchen supper parties to busy family breakfasts with little grandchildren.
We were completely unprepared for the superlative bespoke design service and attention to detail that followed our first visit to the showroom and ended with our stunning Everdon table and Loughrigg chairs. We cannot recommend them highly enough
We saw a beautiful table and good looking but exceptionally comfortable dining chairs in the showroom. They were the wrong size for our room.
We had gone along with dimensions and shape ideas but Will then requested our architect's plans of the kitchen, exact size and make of sofas and fabric samples. He then got to work. He sent us paper templates that we could try in the room and endless CAD drawings of different versions of the tables and chairs until we all thought they were right. He was very patient. The finished results with the wonderful craftsmanship were spectacular. We can’t thank Peter Hall and Sons and especially Will, enough

I have had several items and pieces of furniture repaired and restored by the craftspeople at Peter Hall, ranging from chess pieces and tea caddy through to a dining room table. I have appreciated their knowledge and honest advice. Their work has always been awe-inspiring. I am extremely grateful that they have been able to breathe new life into the broken and worn pieces I have taken to them. I have no hesitation in recommending them to friends and family.
