Upholstery

Peter Hall & Son upholsters a huge variety of new chairs and sofas but can also provide a face-lift to furniture that is old or worn, via our re-upholstery service.

The upholstery work is carried out by David Andrews. David has worked for Peter Hall since 1985 and has over 40 years experience as an upholsterer.

Re-upholstery

When you have a chair that feels like part of you, parting with the chair can seem like a wrench. However, although the fabric may be worn and the upholstery a little tired, a good frame that you love can be rejuvenated to your exact requirements. If the piece is an antique and a period fabric is required, our interior design department will have no problem finding a suitable cover. Alternatively, if you are looking for a lively modern fabric, this can also be sourced from within our library of over 10,000 fabrics.

New upholstery

Our chairs and sofas are traditionally sprung, using techniques from the 19th Century. Springs gives a long-lasting result as well as providing independent support and comfort. From this platform, we can use either hair stuffing or high resilience foam, depending upon customer preference. At the stage before the top cover is applied, you are welcome to visit our workshop, enjoy a cup of coffee and a read of the newspaper from the comfort of your new sofa or chair. Should any adjustments be required, this is the stage where these adjustments can be made, guaranteeing a perfect fit.

Working closely alongside David, our interior designers can use their breadth of experience in soft furnishings to find the perfect fabric for your upholstery.
