The business started on September the 1st as Peter Hall Woodcraft.
1979
Jeremy Hall joined the business having trained outside the company for 7 years in both Cabinet making and Furniture Restoration and Conservation.
1983
John Griffiths joined us as our first apprentice.
1989
Second expansion took place, which included a much larger showroom, new offices, and separate workshops for Cabinet making, Restoration, Woodturning and Upholstery.
1993
David Hunter represented the UK in Cabinet making at the Skill's Olympics coming 4th place with a diploma of excellence.
1998
First large project commissioned by the National Trust to reinstall the panelling from the Victoria & Albert Musem into the Inlaid Chamber, Sizergh Castle.
1999
Stuart Marston represented the UK in Cabinet making at the Skill's Olympics and gained a diploma of excellence.
2000
Suite of new furniture made for Wordsworth House in Cockermouth, including a bed and hangings for Mrs Wordsworth bedroom.
2002
Work carried out on Steam Yacht Gondola, Coniston. New sections of vaulted moulding made and fitted, restoration of the Serpentine figurehead, new cover on the third class saloon seating. Later in the year, Peter Hall & Son celebrated 30 years of business with an evening on the SY Gondola, Coniston.
2006
As part of their refurbishment works, a Private commission was made for the John Rylands University Library Special Collections Room for 25 beautiful oak chairs.
2009
The first design by William Hall, grandson of Peter Hall, consisting of two desks where beautiful design meets with technology.
2010
Sad death of the founder Peter Hall aged 86.
2011
Further development of more unusual designs to house TV and home entertainment systems, combining fine traditional craftmanship with modern technology. A macassar ebony veneered sculpted cabinet with ash legs was completed and exhibited at the Celebration of Craftmanship Event in Cheltenham in August.
